To obtain a water-stable organosilane compound, and to provide a method for preparing and using the compound.
The water-stable/stabilized composition is obtained by mixing an organosilane optionally having nonhydrolyzable organic functional group but essentially having one or more hydrolyzable functional groups with a polyol containing at least two hydroxyl groups with either thereof separated from the other(s) via one or two interposed atoms. A water-stable organosilane compound and a water-stable composition are prepared from the above polyol and the organosilane, and from the water-stable organosilane compound and water, respectively. By the present invention, there is provided a method for treating a substrate by mixing or contacting the substrate with the product, compound or composition of the present invention for a period enough to treat the substrate. Furthermore, there are also provided a substrate treated by making the product, compound or composition of the present invention adhere thereto, a method for dyeing and treating a substrate, a method for antimicrobially treating foods, a method for antimicrobially coating liquid vessels or latex-based medical utensils, and a method for preparing a siloxane in the presence of a stabilizer.
