To provide a water treating apparatus, which can significantly enhance an electromagnetic action applied to flowing water and can easily realize a size reduction and a cost reduction.
This water treating apparatus comprises a plurality of magnets 2 for applying electromagnetic action to flowing water, magnetic pole bodies 4, 8, which are formed of a magnetic material, are interposed between the magnets to be magnetized into positive poles and negative poles, and a housing 6, which is formed of a magnetic material, covers the magnets and the magnetic pole bodies, forms a water flow passage 10 between the magnets and the magnetic pole bodies, and have on one end side a water inflow port of the water flow passage and on the other end side a water outflow port of the water flow passage. The magnet and the magnetic pole bodies are assembled so that the magnetic pole body magnetized to a positive pole and the magnetic pole body magnetized to a negative pole are alternately adjacent to each other. The magnetic pole body magnetized to any one of the poles is located in noncontact with the housing while the magnetic pole body magnetized to the other pole has a notched part 8a formed by partly notching the outer peripheral part of the magnetic pole body to constitute a part of the water flow passage and is located so that the outer peripheral edge is in contact with the housing.
