Abstract:
Offset printing ink comprises a colorant, a base and a binder produced by reacting a solid resin in solution with an alkyd resin and/or an aliphatic ester oil. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an aqueous wash solution for offset printing containing up to 2 wt.% of an alkaline additive; (2) production of an offset printing ink by preparing the binder, incorporating colorants and optional additives into the binder, saponifying free carboxy groups in the printing ink by adding a base, and then adding rheology agents and solvents.
