Title:
WEAR LIMIT ALARM FOR LINING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55155934
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate the drowning of an alarm sound by the noises in braking and surely give warning, when the lining of an automobile drum brake is worn beyoind an allowable limit by making the alarm to sound in non-braking operation. CONSTITUTION:When a lining 4 has enough thickness, the tip of a projecting plate 7 comes into contact with the deep surface of the recess 13 of the lining 4. At the time, a striking part 11a collides against the reverse side of a backing metal 10 and no alarm sound is produced even if a striking bar 11 moves to the end of the slender hole 7a of the projecting plate 7. When the lining 4 is worn to an allowable wear limit thickness of (t), the bottom of the recess 13 of the lining 4 falls out and the plate 7 is thrusted by a spring 8 and displaced until a flange 7c comes into contact with the reverse side of the backing metal 10. As a result, the striking part 11a of the bar 11 collides against the reverse side of the backing metal 10 to repeatedly hit the reverse side because of vibration in the running of a vehicle to inform that a brake shoe 2 should be replaced.
