Front and rear leg elastic bodies 53a, 53b, 54a, 54b are mounted along the leg side edges 23a, 23b between inner and outer surface sheets 30, 40 of a diaper 10. The outer surface sheet 40 is formed with a plurality of recesses 44 on the wearing side. The recesses 44 form a plurality of first strings 45, 47 extending on lines obliquely intersecting an imaginary centerline P-P, and a plurality of second strings 46, 48 intersecting the first rows 45, 47. The inclination angles of the first and second strings 45-48 are formed along the respective inclined parts on the front and rear waist regions 11, 12 of the leg side edges 23a, 23b, and at least one line of the first and second strings 45-48 overlaps with the front and rear leg elastic bodies 53a, 53b, 54a, 54b.
