PURPOSE: To contrive a high speed weaving while preventing the damage of wefts, by holding the wefts to be inserted into the opening of warps at a specific position and subsequently inserting the wefts into the opening of the warps.
CONSTITUTION: A three-dimensionally woven fabric is produced by (1) inserting the first wefts x and the second wefts y, respectively, between the rows and columns of a warp group comprising many warps z tensively disposed in the forms of many rows and many columns with weft-inserting tools 4 and 5 in a state wherein the first and second wefts x and y rectangularly intersect with each other and with the warps z and subsequently (2) turning back the inserted wefts x and y while forming loops at the top terminals thereof. In the process, apparatus (e.g., a guide roller 8 and a guide holder 9) for storing the wefts x and y larger than lengths to be required for one time insertion of the wefts are disposed in weft-supplying sections and the wefts x and y stored therein are held with a weft-inserting tool 4 at a position larger than a length between one end of the opening of the warps and another end thereof and subsequently inserted into the opening of the warps.
