To provide an inexpensive apparatus accurate in pulling back length, excellent in rapidity, having both pulling back function and function of brake device in the weft pulling back apparatus to be installed between a weft length measuring device for a shuttleless loom and a weft inserting nozzle.

In a weft pulling back production in which a fixed pin 25 and swing pins 22a and 22b are arranged at both sides of a thread guide between a gripper and a weft inserting nozzle and the swing pins 22a and 22b are moved to make the thread guide zigzag so as to pull back the end of the weft to a weft inserting nozzle side, a solenoid 18 is used as a driving device for the swing pins 22a and 22b and a pulling back command and a brake command are given to the solenoid 18 during one weft inserting action. The bumping of the swing pins can be prevented by imparting a reverse drive command after a brake command or a laying a movable stopper 8 capable of controlling the stroke length of the swing pins 22a and 22b and fixing a repulsion preventing material 16 made of a vibration-damping sponge equipped with closed cells to the receiving faces of the stoppers.
