PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weft yarn charger in a jet loom, dispensing with an opening at a reed, not interfering with the yarn while it is being charged into the loom, and enabling the yarn to be passed through a weft yarn detector or the like immediately after it is charged into the loom.
SOLUTION: This weft yarn charger is equipped with (1) an arm 4 which is suspended or supported by a base over a cloth fell 19 of a reed 3 in a swingable way in the direction of beating motion of the reed 3, swinging forward on the side of the cloth fell 19 apart from the reed 3 by the inertial force generated by the beating motion to force a weft yarn 2, immediately after it is charged into the machine, toward a hook 7a of a weft yarn detector 7 or a yarn-holding hook which is provided separately from the weft yarn detector 7, (2) a stopper 5 which limits the forward motion end of the arm 4, and (3) a spring 6 which pushes the arm 4 backward to move it, when the weft yarn 2 is charged into the loom, backward to the side of the reed 3 from a yarn inserting passage, and, at the same time, adjust timing for the arm 4 to start moving forward in the beating motion, where the force of the spring 6 is set lower than the inertial force of the arm 4 in the beating motion.
