Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable a wheel to be steered simplifying the construction of a device, by inputting a turning effect from a rotary actuator to the end part of a damper rod in a damper unit to be transmitted to a knuckle through a damper outer cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A strut type damper unit 11 is provided interposing between a wheel house 2 in a car body and a knuckle 5 serving as a wheel supporting member. A tripod joint 15, which permits a relatively sliding motion in the vertical direction further enables a turning effect to be transmitted, is provided between a damper outer cylinder 12 and a damper rod 13 in this damper unit 11. While an electric motor-driven rotary actuator 21 is mounted to the periphery of the damper unit 11. And a wheel steering device, actuating this rotary actuator 21 to turn a rotor 28 for a stator 27, rotates a rotary output member 31 through an inner cylinder member 26 and through a harmonic drive reduction gear 29 so as to steer a wheel 6 through the knuckle 5.
