PURPOSE: To produce a wick for a combustion apparatus efficiently which can be used without a change for a long time by overlapping a short fiber random web layer on a connceting portion of a heat resisting combustion member and a fuel suction member, and then connecting integrally them with a needle punch.

CONSTITUTION: An individual or mixed short fibre random web 4 of heatresisting fibers such as a carbon fiber or a flass fiber, a ceramic fiber, an asbestos fiber and non heatresisting fibers such a rayon cellulose acetate, polyamide, acryl, polyester, polyvinyl folmal, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride, whole aromatic polyamide, cotton, hemp, wool and the like are formed with an appropriate breadth and thickness. These are connected to one side or both sides of an abutting connection of a heatresisting combustion member 2 and a fuel suction member 3 of the wick body 1 by a needle punch with an abutting and an overlapping connection. Many short fibers of the random web layer 4 are secured to a connecting portion of both member 2 and 3 closely integrated and being entangled at random under passing through both front and rear sides of the heatresisting combustion member 2 and the fuel suction member 3.
