Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a means to reduce the information quantity in an spectral image because the quantity of information is extremely large.
SOLUTION: The wide band transmittance variable filter has a filter body which consists of a laminated spacial optical modulator and a wavelength variable filter and which is made mobile by mounting on a mobile stage. The filter body is disposed between the light source and the objective substance, and the filter body is moved at a specified rate on the stage while the spacial optical modulator has the distribution of transmittance in the plane of the stage. By this method, an algorithm to compress a large quantity of information in a spectral image by optimizing the basic function to efficiently process the information is used to derive the basic function, which can be realized as a transmission type filter.
