Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a wide range cam lock chuck which has a graspable dimension range being equal to that of a long stroke type power chuck, and is little in force to bend a workpiece supported between centers.
CONSTITUTION: The first ring having a ratchet wheel 12 for a ratchet on its outer periphery and an internal gear 13 on its side is firmly attached to a member rotating with a pulley rotatably provided in concentricity with the main spindle of a cylindrical grinding machine, and in addition, a member rotating with the pulley is provided with the second ring 14 having a recessed groove 14a on its outer periphery so as to be rotatable and moreover floatable, and a pinion 16 engaging with the internal gear is rotatably supported at the trisected position of the second ring, and a spiral cam claw is fittedly attached to time tip of a central shaft united with the pinion. A locking lever 25 is engaged with the recessed groove to check a rotation, and the ratchet 35 is engaged with the ratchet wheel 12 by a hydraulic cylinder 28 to rotate the first ring for rotating the cam claw as much as about 360° through the internal gear and the pinion.
