To provide a windbreak wall which contributes to the saving of a fuel cost of a traveling vehicle by suppressing an effect of a cross wind and a wind from a diagonal forward side applied to the vehicle and using a wind passing through the windbreak wall, and also to provide a method of improving the fuel economy of the vehicle using the windbreak wall.
The windbreak wall 1 is installed along a road or a rail track. The windbreak wall 1 includes a ventilation element extending from the outside to the inside of the wall. The ventilation element cuts off, reduces, or weakens the wind blowing from the diagonal forward side or the side of the vehicle under traveling by the outer surface of the windbreak wall to reduce wind pressure from a diagonal forward side or a side which is applied to the vehicle under traveling. Also, the ventilation element allows the wind blowing from the diagonal rear side of the vehicle under traveling to pass from the outside to the inside of the windbreak wall so that the vehicle under traveling can receive the wind from the diagonal rear side or the rear side.
