To provide a windshield which can form a projection area without giving greater deformation than required to the windshield, and to provide a head-up display unit.
The windshield 10 comprises a windshield body 21, and a predetermined region 22 provided on part of the windshield body 21 in the longitudinal direction and formed into a curved face whose curvature is different from that of the windshield body 21. The predetermined region 22 is formed into a rounded planar shape. The predetermined region 22 has the projection area 22a onto which the display light of an image displayed on a display source mounted on a vehicle is projected and which is formed into a free curved face for displaying the projected image in a desired shape, and a connection area 22b provided around the projection area 22a so as to position the projection area 22a outside the surface of the windshield body 21 and formed into a curved face ranging over both the projection area 22a and the windshield body 21.
