The wireless communication apparatus comprises a means 60 for calculating a transfer function indicative of the relation between a signal being input to a transmitting/receiving antenna element 20 as a transmission antenna and a signal being induced in the transmitting/receiving antenna element 20 as a reception antenna by the input signal, and a means 62 for setting a receiving circuit constant for determining the quality of a signal being received by the transmitting/receiving antenna element 20 as a reception antenna on the basis of a transfer function calculated by the transfer function calculating means 60 and the signal being inputted to the transmitting/receiving antenna element 20. Consequently, the receving circut constant can be determined while taking account of a signal leaking from the transmission side when the transfer function is determined prior to start communication of information with a communication object.
