Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a wood cellulose dietary fibers safe to human heath, producible stably, and useful as e.g. an additive to beverages and foods, etc., by treating a lignin-contg. pulp produced by kraft cooking process under specified conditions.

CONSTITUTION: A lignin-contg. pulp produced by Kraft cooking process is subjected to multistage delignification and bleaching by using at least two kinds of compounds selected from oxygen, chlorine, alkalis, hypochlorites, hydrogen peroxide and chlorine dioxide, to serve the final bleaching stage as hot-water extraction/washing stage, thus obtaining a wood cellulose pulp bleached to ≥85% in the final whiteness, i.e., the objective wood cellulose dietary fibers ≤330ppm in organohalogen compound (TOX) content and ≤1.2mg/g pulp in benzene-ethanol extract (B.E extract) level.
