PURPOSE: To improve the work efficiency, in a work carrier employed in an automobile assembly line, by arranging such that a carry-in device sucks a work from above while a carry-out device sucks the work from below.

CONSTITUTION: A work held by a stocking device 2 is lifted by lowering a vacuum pad 105 through the cylinder 104 of a carry-in device 100 and sucking the upper face of the work through the vacuum pad 105. Then the work is transferred onto a carry-out device 200. The carry-out device 200 applies a suction pad 213 onto the work W1 from below and sucks the work W1. The work W1 is machined under this state, and upon finish of machining, it is carried out while being sucked. With such arrangement, work efficiency can be improved.
