PURPOSE: To provide an elevating and swinging device for stopper capable of realizing the start of molten metal pouring and the prevention of entrapment of slag without increasing the running cost.
CONSTITUTION: In this device, a bar-shaped stopper 11 for plugging an opening hole part 8 provided at the bottom part of a tundish 3 for continuous casting is fixed to a supporting arm 12 and advanced/retreated to/from the tundish 3 through the supporting arm 12. The device is provided with an elevating mechanism having a stroke that the end part of the stopper 11 is moved from the opening hole part 8 of the tundish to the position exceeding the upper part of a cover 3a of the tundish and a swinging mechanism for applying revolving motion centering the base end of the supporting arm 12 to the stopper.
