Abstract:
To improve rigidity of an oil pan, prevent an oil from spring up, and ensure an oil return function in an internal combustion engine having a structure in which the oil flowing close to a front part of a cylinder head when a vehicle body turns is scraped toward an oil pan with a timing chain.SOLUTION: An oil pan can be separated into an upper oil pan 4 and a lower oil pan 5 and a front cover 11 is fixed to a front surface of the upper oil pan 4. A timing chain arrangement space 12 is formed between a cylinder block 1 and the front cover 11. A baffle plate 20 is integrally formed with a bottom part of the upper oil pan 4. An oil dropping hole 26 for returning the oil, flowing from the timing chain arrangement space 12, to the upper oil pan 4 is opened at a front part of the baffle plate 20. The structure can enhance rigidity of the upper oil pan 4 with the baffle plate 20 while securing the oil return function.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
