Abstract:
To enable an oil to be returned quickly in an internal combustion engine having a structure in which the oil flowing close to a front part of a cylinder head when a vehicle body turns is scraped toward an oil tank with a timing chain.SOLUTION: An oil pan can be separated into an upper oil pan 4 and a lower oil pan 5 (an oil tank), and a front cover 11 is fixed to a front surface of the upper oil pan 4. A timing chain arrangement space 12 is formed between a cylinder block 1 and the front cover 11. An oil accumulated in a cylinder head moves to the side of a timing chain 6 when a vehicle body turns to the right side, and the moved oil flows toward the lower oil pan 5 through the timing chain arrangement space 12. An inner surface of a front wall 18 of the upper oil pan 4 is formed as an inclined surface 33, and thus a direction of the oil is smoothly changed toward the lower oil pan 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
