PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a focused image when focus is automatically adjusted using a camera body for a lens interchangeable camera system whose required focus adjustment accuracy is high and an interchangeable lens for a lens interchangeable camera system whose required focus adjustment accuracy is relatively low.SOLUTION: The camera comprises: a camera body that detects an amount of defocus of an image plane of a subject image with respect to an imaging surface and transmits an amount of focus adjustment control corresponding to the amount of defocus; an interchangeable lens that adjusts focus according to an amount of focus adjustment control; focus adjusting means for adjusting focus according to an amount of focus adjustment control; and an adaptor having transmitting means for transmitting an amount of focus adjustment control to the interchangeable lens. In a case where an amount of focus adjustment control satisfies a predetermined condition, the focus adjusting means of the adaptor adjusts focus according to the amount of focus adjustment control without transmitting the amount of focus adjustment control to the interchangeable lens by the transmitting means of the adaptor.
