PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for preparing cell culture media, feeds and supplements that have desirable properties such as having specific components beyond their normal solubility limits, increased tolerance of radiation, extended release properties, high solubility, an increased shelf life, and thermostability.SOLUTION: The methods may display increased stability of labile components, and may use, for example, microsuspension and/or encapsulation technologies, chelation, and optionally, coating and/or mixing the labile compounds with anti-oxidants. Also provided are methods of producing the compositions, which may withstand thermal and/or irradiation treatment and have reduced virus number. These techniques produce compositions with an extended shelf life or extended release of their internal components into the culture, or compositions that can be added aseptically into a bioreactor using minimal volumes.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
