Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can provide a print image with less color shift and improved accuracy in color shift correction irrespective of the thickness of a sheet.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: transfer means that transfers images in respective colors transferred overlapped to an image carrier to a transfer material; pattern formation instruction means that instructs to form pattern strings for color shift detection on the outside of an image area of the image carrier in which the images to be transferred to the transfer material are formed, orthogonal to the direction of rotation of the image carrier; detection means that detects the pattern strings transferred to the image carrier; thickness information acquisition means that acquires the thickness of the transfer material; a first storage part that stores a correction value for very thickness that is a color shift correction value according to the thickness of the transfer material; a second storage part that stores a reference correction value that is a color shift correction value according to the thickness of a transfer material to be the reference; a calculation part that refers to the correction value for every thickness and the reference correction value to calculate a correction value for setting according to the acquired thickness of the transfer material; and a control part that reflects the correction value for setting to an image forming condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
