Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent bad effects, on life of a discharge lamp and decrease of visibility by abnormality detection of an input voltage and/or current to a lighting circuit.
SOLUTION: An abnormality detection means 5 is provided to detect an input voltage and/or an input current from a power source 2 to a lighting circuit 1, and stop supply of power to a discharge lamp 6 in the case where abnormality in an input voltage value and/or an input current value is detected. Reference values for comparison V1, V2 (V1<V2) are set to the input voltage value and/or input current value, and when a condition of these being smaller than V1 continues for a specified time or more, the abnormality detection means 5 stops supply of power to the discharge lamp 6. When a condition of the input voltage value and/or input current value being larger than V2 continues for a specified time or more, the abnormality detection means 5 allows supply of power to the discharge lamp 6.
