Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert and a cutting tool reducing flaws on a processing surface by chips.SOLUTION: A cutting insert in this invention has a first end face (2) having a nearly polygonal shape, a second end face (3) facing the first end face, a peripheral side face (4) extending between the first and second end faces, and at least one cutting edge (5) on the cross ridge line part of the first end face and the peripheral side face. The first end face has a first corner part (6a). The cutting edge has a first cutting edge (5a) and a second cutting edge (5b) in order from a position near the first corner part. The cross ridge line part of the first end face and the peripheral side face has a lateral ridge line part (7) connecting to the first corner part at the opposite side to the first cutting edge. An angle (A) between the first cutting edge and the lateral ridge line part is larger than an angle (B) between the second cutting edge and the lateral ridge line part in plan view. The lateral ridge line part has a recess part (8) denting to a cutting edge side in plan view.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
