Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond-like carbon coating layer for a piston ring surface in which there are provided a base layer, a gradient layer and an amplitude adjustment layer that is a diamond-like carbon coating layer having dope elements of one kind or two kinds or more of Cr, Si, Ti doped there and content of the dope elements at the amplitude adjustment layer is periodically changed at sinusoidal wave as a thickness of the amplitude adjustment layer is applied.SOLUTION: As compared with the prior art single layer structure or gradient layer structure, since the content of dope elements at an amplitude adjustment layer of the diamond-like carbon coating layer is periodically changed at sinusoidal wave as a thickness of the amplitude adjustment layer is applied, the amplitude adjustment layer of the diamond-like carbon coating layer has a multi-layer circulation fluctuation structure, additionally has a high anti-wear characteristic and a low friction coefficient and it is advantageous against reduction in coating inner stress and improvement of coating toughness, assures an increased thickness at the diamond-like carbon coating layer and further improves durability of the piston ring having the diamond-like coating layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
