PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device, a lighting system, a luminaire and an illumination system that can shorten the time required for arc-extinguishing.SOLUTION: A power supply device 2 includes an input unit 20 to which a first DC voltage V1 is input, and an output unit 21 to which a second DC voltage V 2 is output. The power supply device 2 further includes a voltage conversion circuit 22 for converting the first DC voltage V 1 into the second DC voltage V2 and a control circuit 23 for controlling the voltage conversion circuit 22 so as to change the voltage value of the second DC voltage V2. The control circuit 23 is configured to control the voltage conversion circuit 22 so that the voltage value of the second DC voltage V2 is reduced to a second voltage value V22 for only a fixed period ΔTc every time a predetermined cycle Tc elapses. The second voltage value V22 is a value lower than a voltage value at which lighting of a light source 5 which is turned with the second DC voltage V2 can be maintained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
