Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately provide electric power to each item of hardware in a device and efficiently operate the device in the return from a sleep state.SOLUTION: An image forming device having a server function analyzes a packet received from a network in a standby mode in which a network connection function is effective, determines whether the command content of the packet is a request for the use of an image forming function, a request for the use of the server function, or a request for the use of a service of an external device, transitions to a normal mode if the command content is a request for the use of an image forming function, and transitions to a mediation mode for causing a mediation function to be effective if it is a request for the use of a service of an external device. If the command content of the packet is a request for the use of the server function, the image forming device determines whether the request is for the use of the server function of the image forming device, or the request is for the use of a server function of the external device, transitions to a server mode for causing the server function to be effective if the request is for the use of the server function of the image forming device, and transitions to the mediation mode if the request is for the use of the server function of the external device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
