Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing failures due to removal of a back sheet adhering the precursor of an electrolyte membrane.SOLUTION: Three changes occur when immersing a laminate 345 into an alkaline solution. As the first change, the terminal group of a precursor 315 changes from -SOF to -SONa. The second change is elution of the whole engineered back sheet 130. More specifically, the engineered back sheet 130 disappears. The third change is elution of contaminants, contained in a composite material back sheet 230, into the alkaline solution. As a result, composite material back sheet 230 is composed only of a resin layer 231. The resin layer 231 has a large number of cavities in the vicinity of the boundary surface, as a result of elution of the contaminants.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
