Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a rack shaft capable of forming accurately rack teeth, while suppressing cost increase.SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of a rack shaft 6 formed by bonding tandem in the axial direction, a first shaft and a second shaft, in a forging step, a rack region 12 where rack teeth 11 are arrayed in the axial direction X is formed on the first shaft 21. In a shrink fitting step, a recess 25 on the first shaft 21 is fitted to a salient 26 of the second shaft 22, and shrink fitting is carried out by utilizing heat in the forging step applied to the first shaft 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
