Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine for a ship, which allows flexibility with respect to the arrangement of an exhaust gas outlet.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an internal combustion engine for a ship, which has a crankcase 3, a crankshaft 4, a crankshaft vibration damper 5, an output side flywheel 6, and a turbocharger unit 7 having an exhaust gas outlet 11. The crankshaft 4 protrudes from the crankcase 3 on a first side 3a and a second side 3b of the crankcase 3. A whole assembly comprised of the crankcase 3, the crankshaft 4 and the turbocharger unit 7 can be rotated about a vertical axis by 180° without changing the relative position in the assembly. The damper 5 is connected to a first section 4a of the crankshaft 4 and the flywheel 6 is connected to a second section 4b of the crankshaft 4, or alternatively the damper 5 is connected to the second section 4b and the flywheel 6 is connected to the first section 4a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
