To provide a model useful for developing an antimicrobial agent for a microbial infectious disease in a living thing having an acquired immunologic mechanism, which is a model for microbial infection utilizing a living thing having only a natural immunologic mechanism.
It is studied whether a silkworm larva having only the natural immunologic mechanism is useful as an antimicrobial agent evaluation system or not. It is found that the silkworm larva dies of infection by injection of Staphylococcus aureus or Pseudomonas aeruginosa into the silkworm larva. Surprisingly, the effect of the antimicrobial agent to the silkworm larva agrees with clinical effectiveness of medicines to a human which is a living thing having the acquired immunologic mechanism.
