Abstract:
To suppress wind ripple occurrence without increasing the number of passes of a printing head.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a printing head having a first nozzle array in which a plurality of nozzles that can discharge ink are arranged in a line in a predetermined nozzle array direction, and a second nozzle array in which a plurality of nozzles that can discharge ink in the same color as that of the ink are arranged in a line in the nozzle array direction; and a control part that executes printing by selecting a printing mode according to a printing condition, and controlling discharge of ink to a printing medium by the printing head on the basis of the selected printing mode. When a difference between a use ratio of the nozzles in the first nozzle array at the time of executing printing in a first printing mode and a use ratio of the nozzles in the second nozzle array is D1, and a difference between a use ratio of the nozzles in the first nozzle array at the time of executing printing in a second printing mode and a use ratio of the nozzles in the second nozzle array is D2, D1>D2. When executing printing under a printing condition under which wind ripple is noticeable at the time of executing printing in the first printing mode, the control part selects the second printing mode and executes printing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
