PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of residual yarn on a spindle.

CONSTITUTION: A cutter bar 2 is placed along a spindle row. The cutter bar 2 is provided with a yarn-guide groove 5 and a yarn cutter 6 for each spindle and contains a horizontally sliding yarn-checking bar 3 in the cutter bar. The cutter bar 2 is supported in such a manner as to be movable in vertical direction as well as longitudinal direction with a lifting mechanism 4 relative to the tail yarn S between a spindle SP and a full bobbin B held at the yarn-cutting position. The yarn-checking bar 3 is supported in a state to be movable in vertical direction but unmovable in longitudinal direction. The cutter bar 2 is lifted and transferred in longitudinal direction to guide the tail yarn S to the yarn-guide groove 4 and hold the yarn by the yarn-checking bar 3. The held yarn is pressed against the yarn cutter 6 by the lateral movement of the cutter bar 2. The generation of residual yarn can be prevented and the productivity can be improved by this apparatus.
