ABSTRACTS OBJECTS: To provide a clutch, a punch for forming a clutch, and a method of manufacturing a clutch. MEANS OF ACHIEVING THE OBJECTS: A clutch comprises: an annular metal support having a bottom, an inner wall perpendicular to the bottom, and an outer wall perpendicular to the bottom and coaxial with the inner wall, an annular friction plate supported by the bottom and fitted between the inner and outer walls in engagement therewith, and a swaging structure for securely fixing the friction plate on the metal support, the swaging structure consisting of a first multiplicity of swaging sections provided along the inner wall at equal angular intervals for holding the friction plate on the bottom, a second multiplicity of swaging sections provided along the outer wall at equal angular intervals for holding the friction plate on the bottom in such a way that the second multiplicity of swaging sections are offset from the first multiplicity of swaging sections in the circumferential direction so as not to coincide with the latter swaging sections in any radial directions. An inventive punch can be manufactured by use of an inventive punch adapted to form the swaging sections.
