Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack shaft for a steering device in which a first member having a first rack tooth, a second member having a second rack tooth and an intermediate member arranged between the first member and the second member can be jointed to one another without frictionally welding the members while keeping a relative angle between the first rack tooth and the second rack tooth at a predetermined angle, and a manufacturing method for the same.SOLUTION: A rack shaft 2 comprises: a first rack shaft 3 having a first rack tooth 3a to which is transmitted steering force of a steering wheel; a second rack shaft 4 having a second rack tooth 4a to which is transmitted steering assisting force; and an intermediate member 5, arranged between the first rack shaft 3 and the second rack shaft 4, which has at one end side thereof a first screw shaft 52 to be screwed to the second rack shaft 4 and has at the other end side a second screw shaft 53 to be screwed to the second rack shaft 4. The first screw part 52 and the second screw part 53 have a reverse thread relation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
