Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which a rare earth element is recovered from refuse further effectively and/or by configuration in which recycling (recycle) is performed further easily.SOLUTION: A recovery method is a method for recovering rare earth metals 17A, 17B from a refuse 16 including two or more kinds of rare earth elements and iron, and includes: a step in which an electrolysis tank 10 is prepared in which a molten salt 12 and a liquid molten metal 14 are housed in a form of upper and lower two layers to, and a refuse 16 is arranged in the molten salt 12; an anode elution step in which the refuse 16 is used as an anode, the molten metal 14 is used a cathode, electric voltage is applied between an anode 16 and a cathode 14, and the rare earth element is selectively eluted from the refuse 16; and a cathode precipitation step in which two or more kinds of eluted rare earth element ions are made to precipitate as rare earth metals 17A, 17B respectively to the cathode 14 by electrolytic reduction, and the two or more kinds of precipitated rare earth metals 17A, 17B are separated to a relatively heavy rare earth metal 17A and a relatively light rare earth metal 17B by specific gravity difference thereof.
