Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for storing radioactive waste capable of improving reliability of radioactive waste storage.SOLUTION: A device for storing radioactive waste comprises: a canister 1 which seals radioactive waste Rw; a sealed condition monitoring container 6 which seals the canister 1 in such a manner as to keep inner pressure 9p thereof at negative pressure; a shield concrete chamber 7 which stores the sealed condition monitoring container 6; a cooling device 8 which ventilates and cools the sealed condition monitoring container 6 stored in the shield concrete chamber 7; an inner pressure monitoring device 9 which monitors the inner pressure 9p of the sealed condition monitoring container 6 ventilated and cooled by the cooling device 8; and a leak detection device 10 which detects whether or not the canister 1 has a leak, when the inner pressure 9p of the sealed condition monitoring container 6 monitored by the inner pressure monitoring device 9 is changed beyond a threshold, by sampling and analyzing internal gas in the sealed condition monitoring container 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
