Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated power and thermal management system for a turbine-powered aircraft.SOLUTION: The system may comprise a power turbine 204, a compressor 206, a first cooling turbine 208, a second cooling turbine 210, and an electrical motor-generator 212 disposed on a primary shaft. The compressor may be disposed on the primary shaft to move a system airflow and operably joined to the power turbine. The first cooling turbine may be rotatably disposed on the primary shaft in selective fluid communication with the compressor. The second cooling turbine may be rotatably disposed on the primary shaft in selective fluid communication with the first cooling turbine.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
