To provide an identification tool for a water heater that allows an operator to easily identify a first exposed part, which is a part exposed to the outside with a configuration having a water inlet port, or a second exposed part, which is a part exposed to the outside with a configuration having a hot water outlet port, and to provide a water heater with a configuration by which loss of members is suppressed, and visibility is easily secured in a stable manner.SOLUTION: A water heater 1 includes a first exposed part 100, a second exposed part 200, and a first identification tool 130 (water inlet port side display member). The first exposed part 100 includes a first conduit line 110 with a configuration in which an insertion port 115 overhangs on one side in a right and left direction as compared to a water inlet port 111. The first exposed part 100 includes a filter 125 and an insertion port opening/closing member 120 for opening/closing the insertion port 115. The first identification tool 130 includes a first installation part 131 installed between the first conduit line 110 and the insertion port opening/closing member 120, and a first display part 137 formed integrally with the first installation part 131 in which at least a sign or a graphic indicating "mizu" (water) is displayed. The first display part 137 is configured so as to be tabularly bent from a predetermined belt-like site in the first installation part 131, and its posture is determined so as to be oriented to the front side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
