Description:
AN ACCUMULATOR POWERED ELECTRIC VACUUM CLEANER Field of the Invention The present invention relates to an accumulator powered electric vacuum cleaner used as an appliance for removing small pieces of dirt so as of waste of animal origin, preferably of dog excrements.

Background of the Invention To remove small pieces of dirt, such as the dirt of animal origin, preferably dog excrements in pedestrian precincts and parks, utility vacuum cleaners mounted on a carrier, e. g. an undercarriage, bike or another vehicle are used, or the excrements are cleaned by sweeping them up manually.

An appliance for removing small pieces of dirt by means of utility vacuum cleaners mounted on a carrier, which carrier is a part of the whole assembly, is for example disclosed in the utility model specification CZ 7431. Said utility model specification discloses a mobile appliance used to collect small pieces of dirt. The mobile appliance comprises a driving unit.

The driving unit is connected with a suction unit. The suction unit is connected with a collecting reservoir via a tunnel. A suction hose with a collecting pipe mouths into this collection reservoir. This whole assembly is placed on a carrier, e. g. on a bike, a small motorcycle, or on a two-track vehicle or on a handcart. A fuel engine or an electric motor can serve as the driving unit.

A mobile cleaning appliance has been disclosed also in EP 509 165. This appliance comprises a collecting case and a suction pipe extending from this case. An engine is placed in this case. This engine drives a suction unit. The suction unit is used to suck dirt through the suction pipe into a space. This dirt is then pushed into a waste chamber and pressed by a firm wall. The wall can also be driven by the motor of the suction unit. In use, the assembly can be carried by a small automobile.

The driving engine is a petrol one or a Diesel one. Owing to the energy source used, the whole appliance is not environmentally friendly and of low mobility. Therefore, use of this appliance is limited to smaller areas only.

U. S. Patent No. 5,623, 744 discloses a cleaning system for sucking of waste material and/or for collection of such material, which can be used as important waste, especially for industrial use. The system comprises means for production of suction and for material collection, means for retaining and accumulating of such material and means for minimising noise, which is disturbing for environment. Preferably, the system is mounted on a mobile frame. The frame is provided with a member used to change direction of movement and it is modified so that it allows to be connected to eventual further supplementary means. Such means are those used to determine quantity of the material collected easily observable by the vacuum cleaner operator. A disadvantage is a more difficult operation and handling as well as a non-environmental operation.

A disadvantage of the prior art solutions is that they pollute environment by engine off-gas, they are noisy and they are difficult to operate. Their energy consumption is rather high, i. e. in the order of 5 kW.

A disadvantage of the utility vacuum cleaners is their low efficiency in places accessible only with difficulties, in narrow zones, on stairs and especially in proximity of buildings. A disadvantage of sweeping up by hand is its low productivity. Further, in case of such appliance, the dog excrements cannot be separated.

Summary of the Invention The above mentioned drawbacks are removed by an accumulator powered electric vacuum cleaner according to the present invention which comprises a suction unit with accumulator powered electric drive, which suction unit is connected with a collecting vessel, whereby, a suction hose with a collecting suction pipe mouths into this vessel, whereby the whole system is mounted on a handcart, whereby, the accumulators are placed in a box which box is mounted on the bottom side of a frame of a two-wheel undercarriage of said handcart, whereby, a top of the box forms the carrying structure on the upper side of the undercarriage frame, whereby a removable collecting reservoir is placed in the carrying structure, which reservoir is closed by a cover, whereby, a blower with a guard is mounted on the cover, whereby in the face part of the upper surface of the cover a connecting neck for a suction hose is provided and the free end of the undercarriage tow bar is terminated by a coupling terminal for connecting of a handling means, whereby the carrying structure is provided with a connector for connecting of a cable from the start pushbutton of the vacuum cleaner, further a accumulators disconnecting switch and a connector for charging the accumulators.

Preferably, the cover can hinge around a hinge in the face side of the carrying structure and it can be secured to the undercarriage part in the working position by a fastener and the bottom part of the cover is provided with a sealing gasket.

According to another preferable embodiment of this invention, the tow bar of the undercarriage is provided with suspensions bearing the suction pipe during a ride or a long distance move.

According to another preferable embodiment of this invention, the coupling terminal can be connected by a joint with a ball towing device of the handling means, which handling means is preferably a bike.

According to yet another preferable embodiment of this invention the coupling terminal is connected with a handle for manual handling with the vacuum cleaner handcart.

Preferably, the carrying structure is provided with a collapsible rest ensuring vacuum cleaner stability when the vacuum cleaner is disconnected from the towing device of the handling means.

Finally, it is preferable when the suction hose is provided for connecting it in the neck by a terminal with a quick-clamping fastener.

The electric accumulator driven vacuum cleaner according to this invention is advantageous in that it is environmentally friendly and low demanding in operation. It is substantially more effective in places that are difficult to access, it is easy to move and it is possible choosing between towing it by hand and by a bike.

Brief Description of the Drawings One embodiment of an accumulator powered electric vacuum cleaner according to the invention is illustrated in the attached drawings where Figure 1 is a side view of an accumulator driven electric vacuum cleaner showing schematically a towing device of a vacuum cleaner handling means, Figure 2 is top view of a vacuum cleaner with the suction pipe fixed, Figure 3 is front view of a vacuum cleaner and Figure 4 is a wiring diagram.

Detailed Description of the Invention The particularly preferred embodiment of the accumulator powered electric vacuum cleaner according to this invention comprises a driving part including an electric motor of a blower powered by two accumulators. The accumulators are situated in box 3. The box 3 is fastened on the lower part of the frame of a two-wheel undercarriage 1 of a handcart. The motor with blower is hidden under a guard 7, what will be described below, whereby, the blower chamber is connected with a downwards directing exhaust pipe 11, extending from the guard 7 and guiding the air stream exciting from the vacuum cleaner downwards to the ground.

The blower with the guard 7 is fixed to the cover 6 closing the carrying structure 4 from the top, forming the cover of the box 3 with accumulators. A collecting reservoir 5 is removably arranged inside the carrying structure 4. The cover 6 on the carrying structure 4 can be uncovered. Having uncovered the cover 6 it is possible to extract the collecting reservoir 5 and to empty it.

When the blower with guard 7 is in the operating position, the cover 6 is secured by a fastener 16 to the carrying structure 4.

The fastener 16 is situated on the rear side of the carrying structure 4 which structure 4 is opposite to the hinge 15. The fastener 16 allows to disengage the cover 6 together with the blower and with the guard 7 from the carrying structure 4 easily, for example to empty and clean the collecting reservoir 5.

The bottom side of the cover 6, which surrounds the upper edge of the carrying structure 4 when the carrying structure 4 is closed and in the operating position of the vacuum cleaner, is provided with a sealing gasket. The gasket seals the cover 6 against the carrying structure 4.

A connecting neck 8 of an elastic suction hose 10 is situated in the upper face part surface area of the cover 6. The free end of the suction hose 10 continues by a suction pipe 9, which suction pipe 9 can have chamfered end. It would be also possible to connect the suction hose 10 at some other place of the carrying structure 4, but considering the optimal air flow and the separation of dirt from air, connection of the suction hose 10 exactly in the upper part of the container in the carrying structure 4 is preferable.

During a ride or moving of the vacuum cleaner to a more distant place it is possible to place the suction pipe 9 in suspensions 17 provided on the tow bar of the two-wheel undercarriage 1 of the handcart.

On the free end of the tow bar of the two-wheel undercarriage 1 of the handcart with the vacuum cleaner a terminal 2 is provided to make a joint connection with the towing device of the vacuum cleaner.

The towing device is of two kinds. It can be either manually driven by the operator or driven by a bike. For this purpose this bike is provided with a ball towing device 18 which towing device 18 is provided with a holding stirrup and a safety catch. If the handcart is towed manually by the operator with the help of the terminal, then the tow bar is provided with a towing handle so that the operator can grip the tow handle by his hand.

In both cases, on the towing handle or on the handlebar of a bike, an electric pushbutton is provided. The pushbutton is used to start the blower. This electric pushbutton is provided with a cable connected to the connector 12 The connector 12 is placed on the face side of the carrying structure 4 of the vacuum cleaner. On the same face side of the carrying structure 4 of the vacuum cleaner also a disconnecting switch 13 is situated to disconnect the accumulators. Further, a connector 14 for charging the accumulators is also provided there.

If the vacuum cleaner as an assembly is connected behind a bike, its stability is secured by this bike. When the vacuum cleaner is disconnected from the bike, stability of the vacuum cleaner is provided by a collapsible rest 19. The rest 19 is provided on the bottom part of the two-wheel undercarriage 1 of the vacuum cleaner cart.

The two-wheel undercarriage 1 is provided with two white reflecting glasses on the front side, two red reflecting glasses on the back side and two orange reflecting glasses in the side wheels.

If the vacuum cleaner is placed on a two-wheel undercarriage 1 with the possibility to be towed by a bike, transport of the vacuum cleaner is very fast, simple and mobile. In a broken terrain, so as in parks, parking places, etc., it is possible to handle it also after it is disconnected from the bike.

The vacuum cleaner drive by an accumulator is environmentally friendly and capacity of the rechargeable batteries after one charge is sufficient to operate the vacuum cleaner for several hours.

The vacuum cleaner operation is very simple.

Before the vacuum cleaner is used the state and charge of the accumulators is checked so that a battery charger is connected to the connector 14. After a check the cable from the controlling pushbutton is connected to the connector 12. The suction hose 10 is put into the neck 8 and securing of the cover 6 of the collecting reservoir 5 to the carrying structure 4 by the fastener 16 is checked.

When the vacuum cleaner is transported to a longer distance, then the undercarriage 1 is connected to the towing device 18 of the bike by means of the connector 2, whereby, a ride is carried out by a speed that corresponds to the nature of the respective road considering operational safety.

Dirt is collected so that the collecting suction pipe 9 sucks it in. If the vacuum cleaner is connected behind the wheel, then it is possible to carry out the collection only when it is stopped.

In case of a manual move with the vacuum cleaner, e. g. in a broken space, it is possible to carry out the collection also during a movement, which movement has to conform to the nature of the cleaned space. The vacuum cleaner is switched on by a controlling pushbutton, whereby the time of operation is controlled by the time unavoidably necessary to suck in dirt.

Dirt is collected in the collecting reservoir 5. If the suction effect of the vacuum cleaner is decreased, it is necessary to empty the collecting reservoir. This is carried out by a simple, quick release of the fastener 16, lifting of the cover 6 and by extracting and cleaning the collecting reservoir 5. After re- inserting of the collecting reservoir 5, the cover 6 is again secured and the vacuum cleaner is prepared to be re-used.
