Abstract:
Provided is an acoustic wave device with which it is possible to obtain good impedance characteristics even when the acoustic wave that propagates is mainly composed of longitudinal waves. The acoustic wave device (1) is provided with a support substrate (2), a piezoelectric layer (3), and an IDT electrode (4). The piezoelectric layer (3) is disposed on the support substrate (2) either directly or indirectly. The IDT electrode (4) includes a plurality of electrode fingers (41) and is disposed on a major surface (31) of the piezoelectric layer (3). The thickness of the piezoelectric layer (3) is not more than 1λ, where λ is the wavelength of acoustic wave determined by an electrode finger period of the IDT electrode (4). The support substrate (2) is an A-plane sapphire substrate.
