[Problem] To prevent the occurrence of a phenomenon wherein a state in which an input member and an output member can rotate and a state in which the same cannot rotate repeatedly occur in an alternating manner in a short time period. [Solution] A reverse input blocking clutch 4 has a function of transmitting, to an input member 7, a torque that is being reverse-inputted to an output member 8 from an output-side mechanism, due to the provision of instructions to use an actuator to apply, to the input member 7 while the torque is being reverse-inputted to the output member 8 from the output-side mechanism, a torque in the opposite direction from the direction of the torque that is being reverse-inputted to the output member 8 from the output-side mechanism, thereby switching the reverse input blocking clutch 4 to a state of being able to transmit torque between the input member 7 and the output member 8, and then to use the actuator to apply, to the input member 7 and in the aforementioned opposite direction, a torque of a size that is less than the size of the torque that is being reverse-inputted to the output member 8 from the output-side mechanism.
