Abstract:
An adhesive composition which comprises an ethylene/propylene/unconjugated diene terpolymer rubber latex having an unconjugated diene unit content of 3 to 15 wt. % and an aqueous resorcinol/formaldehyde resin solution. The composition is utilizable in internally bonding a fibrous material to a matrix comprising an ethylene/propylene/unconjugated diene terpolymer rubber or in externally bonding a fibrous material to an external object (e.g., a rubber sheet) comprising an ethylene/propylene/unconjugated diene terpolymer rubber. An improved adhesion strength is attained by infiltrating the adhesive composition into the fibrous material and fixing the composition thereto before the bonding operation.
