Abstract:
Provided is an alkaline storage cell comprising a positive electrode lead having a section, wherein a PTC thermistor is incorporated, being made more compact so as to be capable of being arranged in a smaller space than conventional positive electrode leads, said alkaline storage cell being capable of suppressing heat generation during external shorts. The cell (2) comprises the positive electrode lead (30); the positive electrode lead includes a first lead half (42), a second lead half (44), and a PTC thermistor (40) arranged therebetween; the first and second lead halves are formed larger than the planar view shape of the PTC thermistor, in a section where same mutually overlap, and each have a first or second overlap end section (54, 56) that comes in contact with the PTC thermistor; the PTC thermistor is fitted into a fitting recessed section (70) formed in the overlap end section of the first lead half; and an exposed section of the PTC thermistor, not covered by the first and second overlap end sections, is covered by a protective material (72).
