Abstract:
One aspect of the present invention pertains to an article management system for detecting the presence or absence of an article, said system comprising: an oscillating member capable of oscillating between a first position and a second position; a torque generating member for generating a torque that causes the oscillating member to oscillate from the second position toward the first position; a communication device; a sheet-like radiowave shielding member that, when coming close to the communication device, shields radio waves generated from the communication device; and a control apparatus that acquires a result as to communication possibility by a wireless apparatus with the communication device, and determines, on the basis of said result as to the communication possibility, whether an article is present on a reference surface. Either the communication device or the radiowave shielding member is mounted to the oscillating member. When the oscillating member is situated at the first position, the communication device and the radiowave shielding member do not come close to each other, whereas when the oscillating member is situated at the second position, the communication device and the radiowave shielding member come close to each other.
