Abstract:
This invention provides the following: an article that has an anti-glare film formed by applying and then baking an application liquid containing a silica precursor, wherein even if a thick anti-glare film is used, cracking and chipping thereof are minimized; a method for manufacturing said article; and an image display device that offers good visibility. The aforementioned article (10), which has an anti-glare film (14) on the surface of a base material (12), is characterized in that: the anti-glare film (14) is obtained by applying an application liquid containing a silica precursor (A), scale-like particles (B), and a liquid medium (C) to a base material (12) and then baking said application liquid; and the silica precursor (A) in the application liquid comprises a silane compound (A1) and/or a hydrolytic condensate thereof, said silane compound (A1) having a hydrolyzable group and a hydrocarbon group bound to a silicon atom.
