Abstract:
An update unit (232) decrements the set price for a product at intervals, said set price corresponding to a bid that can win the product. A provision unit (240) provides the current set price for the product to a plurality of users. A management unit (233) manages active users selected from among the plurality of users to whom the current set price has been provided, said active users showing an interest in the product. A reception unit (210) receives a bid at the current set price from one of the plurality of users. If the point in time at which the reception unit (210) receives such a bid happens to be within a predetermined invitation period starting from the point in time at which the update unit (232) decremented the set price for the product from the previous set price to the current set price, then a mail transmission unit (250) invites active users, other than the user who placed the received bid, to bid on the product at the previous set price. The reception unit (210) then accepts bids from the active users who have been invited to bid, until the passing of a bidding deadline determined on the basis of the point in time at which the set price for the product was decremented to the current set price, or the point in time at which the initial bid at the current set price was received. A determination unit (237) determines the winning user on the basis of the initial bid and the subsequent bids received by the reception unit (210).
