Provided are an automatic operation assistance device and a computer program, whereby automatic operation assistance that is appropriate for a vehicle condition can be performed even when there are a plurality of candidates for the current position of a vehicle. Specifically, the present invention is configured so that even when a plurality of candidates for the position of a vehicle are detected by map matching processing in a case in which the vehicle is in a section immediately after branching, for a case in which a single predicted travel route for the vehicle prior to passing through a branch point is specified, the predicted travel route is estimated to be the predicted travel route traveled by the vehicle thereafter, and automatic operation assistance for the vehicle is performed in accordance with the predicted travel route.
