Abstract:
This automatic tensioner comprises: a base having an outer cylinder part; an arm; a pulley around which a transmission belt is wound; a friction member interposed between the inner circumferential surface of the outer cylinder part and the arm; and a coil spring that presses the friction member in the axial direction to the arm and turnably urges the arm in the X direction to the base, wherein the friction member includes a locking surface positioned more on the X-direction side than an arc surface, being locked to the arm, and inclining so as to be more directed toward the X direction the more directed toward the radially outside the locking surface is, and a retaining groove locked to one end of the coil spring, and wherein the friction member and the arm have a restricting means where recesses/protrusions formed on the locking surface of the friction member and recesses/protrusions formed on the locking surface of a protrusion of the arm engage with each other.
